Students at Northwest Elementary School are “pulling” together to make a difference for children and their families who are going through a difficult time. Students are learning that POP tabs are not just for beverage anymore, but that the small aluminum tabs can actually help other kids. While the students are collecting aluminum tabs from containers, they are learning about philanthropy and the importance of recycling. The tabs will be delivered the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville, NC about three or four times during this year. The Ronald McDonald House has an ongoing collection campaign to recycle the tabs. The money raised from their recycling efforts allows families to stay in the Ronald McDonald House for a minimal cost while children are hospitalized for long term care. The students are learning the value of working together to do BIG things.
