  • School year opens with big bump in enrollment

    At the end of this school year’s first week, on Sept. 2, student enrollment was up 134 compared to the same point a year ago – an increase of 1.6 percent – and student membership increased by 112 in the same comparison.

  • Five tapped for Rural Teacher Leadership Network.

    Teachers April Modlin and Jessie Van Cura of Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School, Kaylah Blount and Eunesia Taylor of Rochelle Middle School and Amanda Robles of Southwood Elementary School are participating in this program for the 2022-2023 school year with 31 other teachers from six other counties.

  • Four LCPS administrators in new roles for new school year

    Personnel changes announced Monday send Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School principal Rhonda Greene to North Lenoir High School, Northwest Elementary School principal Dr. Heather Walston to Contentnea-Savannah K-8 and Contentnea-Savannah assistant principal Christy Eubanks to Northwest Elementary as principal. Also approved was the appointment of four new assistant principals.

  • LCPS gearing up for 'blockbuster' of summer learning

    Already, nearly 2,000 students have enrolled in the summer learning sessions that begin July 5 for elementary students and July 11 for middle and high school students. All four academic camps run Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will end on July 28.

  • LCPS seeking substitute teachers

    Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of young people in Lenoir County by becoming a substitute teacher? LCPS is now taking applications for the 2021-2022 school year. To qualify, applicants must complete an Effective Teacher Training course (offered at Lenoir Community College) or possess a valid teaching license, complete an online application and get on the waiting list for an interview.
