  • LCPS awarded international District of Distinction honor

    Cognia, the international school improvement organization, has named Lenoir County Public Schools a District of Distinction, a designation of excellence granted to only 20 school districts worldwide for 2021 and an honor associated with LCPS’s strong performance in last spring’s accreditation review.

  • Generosity a lesson LCPS students ace every Christmas

    The warm feeling that comes from helping others is circulating this Christmas season through LCPS classrooms and clubs, from the youngest students to the oldest, as school communities respond to the needs of individuals and local and national institutions. Generosity is a lesson easily retained but, in the district’s schools, always worth repeating.

  • LCPS teachers dominate Bright Ideas grant competitions

    LCPS teachers won 58 of the 99 Bright Ideas grants awarded by Tri-County EMC and 21 state-level Bright Ideas grants awarded by N.C. Electric Cooperatives.

  • District steps up its free in-school Covid testing program

    LCPS has expanded its corps of school nurses, added the highly accurate PCR test and teamed up with a private firm to interpret test results. The changes are expected to get students back to school sooner, make testing more convenient, and provide some relief for school nurses for whom the work of Covid testing, contact tracing and notification has come to overshadow their myriad other responsibilities.

  • LCPS seeking substitute teachers

    Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of young people in Lenoir County by becoming a substitute teacher? LCPS is now taking applications for the 2021-2022 school year. To qualify, applicants must complete an Effective Teacher Training course (offered at Lenoir Community College) or possess a valid teaching license, complete an online application and get on the waiting list for an interview.
