  • Teacher of Year finalists judge success by their students

    Kristen Davenport, a science teacher at E.B. Frink Middle School; Ryan Gardner, a science teacher at South Lenoir High School; and Barbara Purdie, an English teacher at Kinston High School have emerged as Teacher of the Year contenders from a field of 18 teachers who represent each of the district’s schools and its pre-kindergarten program.

  • School board approves instructional calendars for 2020-21

    For students on the traditional calendar, the school year will begin on Aug. 24, 2020, in accordance with state law, and end on May 28, 2021. Instructional breaks are largely unchanged – three days around Thanksgiving in November, about two weeks around Christmas and New Year’s, a week after Easter and teacher workdays in months where there are no holidays.

  • Education Foundation mini-grants a prize for teachers

    Community support for public school teachers pushed the amount of money raised last year and awarded last week as 2019 Lenoir County Education Foundation mini-grants to records heights -- $20,836 conferred in 54 grants to teachers at 16 LCPS schools.

  • Students put spirit of giving into practice

    student-led groups like FFA, DECA, National Honor Society and student governments groups practiced the altruism that’s a hallmark of the holiday season. Many of these acts of kindness were performed anonymously, a few by individual students who saw a need and acted on it, and others with a host of helpers and a high degree of organization.

  • Required immunizations available at school

    We are partnering with the Lenoir County Health Department to administer required 7th grade immunizations to students who have not received their immunizations. Consent forms were sent home to students today who have not yet met the requirement. All forms must be turned in no later than Thursday. Remember, it your child has not received the required immunizations, they will not be allowed to return to school after 30 calendar school days until they receive them. Please call the school if you have any questions.

  • Sports teams opening up to home-schoolers

    Beginning with the new school year and the fall sports season, Lenoir County Public Schools will open up participation in middle school and high school athletics to home-schooled students in Lenoir County who meet eligibility requirements established recently by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. Parents of interested students in the E.B. Frink attendance zone should contact our school for more information and to register. Eligibility requirements can be found here.
