Staff Wellness

Supporting the People Who Support Our Students

At LCPS, we recognize that the well-being of our staff, especially the teachers who work directly with students each day, is essential to strong classrooms and thriving schools. Hear from Southeast teacher Holly Holder, who received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Duke University, and who focused on teacher wellness in her master's program at Harvard University:

Many educators experience signs of stress or burnout at different points in the school year. These can include persistent fatigue, trouble sleeping, feeling overwhelmed, irritability, difficulty concentrating, or a loss of interest in work that once felt meaningful. Recognizing these signs early can help staff take small steps that protect their well-being.

LCPS encourages staff to adopt simple, practical strategies that make a difference over time. These include things like connecting with colleagues for support and using short breathing or grounding exercises throughout the day. Wellness resources are also available upon request, and we encourage staff to use them whenever needed.

LCPS is committed to creating a supportive environment where staff feel valued and cared for. When we take care of ourselves, we strengthen our classrooms, our schools, and our entire community.
