  • School to reopen with virtual instruction for nine weeks

    The Lenoir County Board of Education decided Monday night that all students will begin the 2020-2021 school year as remote learners and, after the first nine weeks, the district’s youngest students could transition to in-person instruction provided certain public health metrics are met.

    Four weeks of online classes will assist K-5 students who need an academic boost and will also allow LCPS to test drive instructional techniques for remote learning that will be important if the district has to go that route during the regular school year.

    Lenoir County Public Schools is now registering students for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. Registration procedures vary, with most schools asking parents to call for an appointment in an effort to comply with public health guidelines.

    The statewide recognition for Andre Clark of Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School came just days after the School Nutrition Association named Moss Hill Elementary School cafeteria manager Cheryl Hinson as its 2020 Manager of the Year for North Carolina.
