    Kindergarten, Pre-K early registration opens March 20

    Early registration for entering pre-school and kindergarten students in Lenoir County for the 2023-2024 school year will be held March 20-24 at all LCPS elementary schools during regular school hours. On Thursday, March 23, registration will be held from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Spanish-language translators will be at the schools.

    Students rack up honors in advancing to NC Science Fair

    Sixteen projects by LCPs students, eight each in the elementary and middle/high school divisions, won awards at the 20-county Region I Science and Engineering Fair and earned a spot in the NC Science Fair on March 25. In all, 26 students from 12 different schools will represent the district at the state finals.

    LCPS names finalists for Teacher of the Year honor

    Selected as finalists on Tuesday were Ashley Deaver, an eighth-grade math teacher at Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School; Kathryn Griffin, a first-grade teacher at Banks Elementary School; Katherine Hart, a first-grade teacher at Northwest Elementary School; and Leonard Palmer, the band and chorus instructor at Kinston High School.

    Woodington eighth grader three-peats at LCPS Spelling Bee

    Wesley Vernon three-peated as winner of the LCPS Spelling Bee last week and credited his having been in the district-wide contest twice before – and having won both times – with making his third appearance a little easier. Two first-time spellers made the podium. Gracie Grantham of EB Frink Middle was first runner-up and Betty Singletary, representing the elementary grades at Contentnea-Savannah K-8, was second runner-up.

  • LCPS seeking substitute teachers

    Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of young people in Lenoir County by becoming a substitute teacher? LCPS is now taking applications for the 2021-2022 school year. To qualify, applicants must complete an Effective Teacher Training course (offered at Lenoir Community College) or possess a valid teaching license, complete an online application and get on the waiting list for an interview.
