Lenoir County Public School students won honors in the 2018 Elementary Poster Contest sponsored by the North Carolina School Boards Association.
The awards in the statewide contest were announced last week at the NCSBA annual conference in Greensboro. The posters were drawn to illustrate the theme “What’s Great about Public Schools.”
First place in the K-2 division went to a poster submitted by students in Tracie Marshburn’s satellite self-contained EC class at Southeast Elementary School. The poster included the message: “In public school we can all learn.”
Brianna Trevino, a second grader at Contentnea-Savannah K-2 School, won third place in the K-2 division.
Third place in the Grade 3-5 division went to Alynda Raye Tilghman, a third grader at Contentnea-Savannah.
All three winning posters showed diversity as a strength of North Carolina’s public schools.
Brianna, Alynda and the students of Marshburn’s class were recognized and presented certificates of achievement at Monday night’s meeting of the Lenoir County Board of Education.
