LCPS Board of Education meeting highlights - March 3, 2025

It was an exciting Board of Education meeting on Monday, recognizing so many talented student and staff members.

1. Lilli Daughety, from North Lenoir High School, has been selected for the Goodnight Scholarship program at NC State. This is a huge opportunity for her as she pursues her goals in becoming an orthodontist!

2. We'd like to continue celebrating our four fantastic finalists for Teacher of the Year! Congratulations to Tara Carroll (South Lenoir), April Modlin (Northwest), Beverly McLawhorn (Pink Hill), and Deshona Ingram (Southwood). These teachers all do an incredible job teaching and engaging our students every day. Congratulations!

3. Each year, LCPS also selects a Teacher Assistant of the Year and a Non-Instructional Classified Employee of the Year. These employees go above and beyond for our schools every day and represent the best of LCPS at their individual schools. Congratulations to Mrs. Salisa Cobb from Moss Hill Elementary for being selected as the Teacher Assistant of the Year, and Andre Clark from Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School for being selected as our Classified Employee of the Year. More information on these two wonderful staff members soon!

4. This is Science Season in Lenoir County Public Schools, and this Science Season we're winning big in regional competitions. At the regional Science and Engineering Fair held Feb. 15 at East Carolina University, 21 students and the 15 projects they created won a first, second or third place.

5. The North Carolina School Boards Association Academy for School Boardsmanship would like to honor the following board members for successful completion of school board training during the 2023-2024 academy year - Mr. W.D. Anderson, Award of Excellence and Mr. Bruce Hill, Scholars Circle.
