Multi-tierred System of Supports (MTSS)
As its name indicates, MTSS, or the Multi-Tierred System of Supports supervised by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction and implemented at the district level through LCPS's Exceptional Children's program, is a multi-faceted framework for providing targeted support to struggling students. Although the long-term goal of MTSS is school improvement and ensuring college, career and community readiness for all students, its immediate focus is on the student, employing early intervention, screening techniques and accumulated data to create individualized plans for addressing academic and behavioral challenges. This systematic approach is designed to ensure maximum growth for all students.
