    A goal for the new school year that district leaders and principals made a priority during their planning retreat in July – to ensure that all students have full and equal access to learning opportunities – received a ringing endorsement from two nationally known educators in Kinston this week to work with more than 700 LCPS teachers and school administrators.

  • Convocation keynoter recruits 'educator diplomats'

    Freebird McKinney, the 2018 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina teacher of the year, keynoted LCPS’s opening day convocation at Grainger Stadium on Monday, telling more than 1,100 school district employees – including more than 700 teachers and school administrators – that they are “educator diplomats” fighting for a cause.

  • Northeast principal, federal programs director named

    Rashard P. Curmon brings experience in school administration, in curriculum coaching and in classroom instruction to his leadership role at Northeast. Beverly A. Kee will move from her position as assistant director of federal programs in Wayne County to direct the LCPS program.
